Not far from the Awa'awaphui Trail is Waimea Canyon and the Kalalau and Pu'u O Kila lookouts. Photos just can't convey how impressive this area is.

Average rain fall near here is about 450 inches (37.5 feet) per year...




If you zoom in on the ridge without vegetation that is up and to the left of the waterfall below, you can barely tell there are some blips (about 1 mm high). Those are people, which helps put the scale of this place into perspective.


Coming or going, do yourself a favor and stop at Island Taco in Waimea. We sampled a lot of tacos on this trip and this place was our favorite!
