Location: Crack Canyon Wilderness Study Area, Utah
Distance: 8 miles, but part of a 27 mile series of microadventures in this area
Group: Solo trip
First, how do you beat the names of these canyons? Just saying. The road in was a tad muddy, but the Subaru did just fine.
I did a portion of Dang (the more technical canyon on the 28th). I originally was just out for an evening stroll and thought I would go a bit up the trail. Well, that always has a tendency of keeping me out later than I think (without a headlamp...not my best move), so I made the return trip from Dang by moonlight.
The Milky Way was making an appearance in the southern sky between about 3:30 AM and 5:30 AM, so I was up in the chilly morning to catch a glimpse.
After a chilly sunrise, I headed back up the wash towards Ding this time.
I made it through this section...
By doing this...
And by doing a superman across the slot (both hands on one side, both feet on the other). Sorry - didn't work to take a picture of that. The mud on the trail and my not-super-grippy Altra shoes made it a little more tricky than it should have been. Regardless, I escaped with dry shoes.
