To paraphrase from Moby Dick:
Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth; whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul; whenever I find myself involuntarily pausing before coffin warehouses, and bringing up the rear of every funeral I meet; and especially whenever my hypos get such an upper hand of me, that it requires a strong moral principle to prevent me from deliberately stepping into the street, and methodically knocking people’s hats off—then, I account it high time to get to [backpacking] as soon as I can.
February has never been my favorite month. So, when the weather called for the 50s and some sunshine, I decided to do a series of little adventures in Utah. Fresh air, vitamin D made the natural way, and some impressive scenery is just what I needed.
After a nice stroll up some slick rock, I came to the combination cave/arch/window/hole in the roof that makes this place so unique.
There is a small seep inside the cave that was keeping some vegetation going strong even in February.
A nice walk out took me past some water/ice filled potholes.
