We do prep hikes so you can gain confidence and so we can make sure everyone is ready for the Outpost adventure. At a minimum, you must go on at least one 8-mile prep hike with us and one of the 3.5 mile hikes with a pack. If you can't make these dates, reach out to us to schedule an alternate. Want to do a separate hike with just your ward? Great, we'd love to help out. Please respect the preparation that the rest of the girls are putting into this by making sure you are prepared.
Parents and leaders are invited to any/all of these prep hikes. These are great opportunities to get to know each other, ask questions about gear, and to let us know how we can help you prepare.
All hikes will begin at the same spot - the White Ranch Open Space lower parking lot.
We recognize the Church has currently shut down all activities due to COVID-19. That said, we are currently planning on the following dates and will update this, as necessary.
Prep Hikes:
April 18, 7AM. No backpacks (just a day pack with whatever snacks and water you want). About 4 to 5 miles.
April 25, 7AM. No backpacks (just a day pack with whatever snacks and water you want). 8 miles. This is one of two opportunities for the mandatory 8-mile hike.
April 29, 6PM. Bring your backpack with enough weight in it to simulate Outpost. 3.5 miles. This is one of two opportunities for the mandatory 3-mile hike with packs.
May 9, 7AM. No backpacks (just a day pack with whatever snacks and water you want). 8 miles. This is one of two opportunities for the mandatory 8-mile hike.
May 27, 6PM. Bring your backpack with enough weight in it to simulate Outpost. 3 miles. This is one of two opportunities for the mandatory 3-mile hike with packs.
In addition to the prep hikes, we will have two other events to help prepare:
May 3, 6:30PM. Outpost parent and daughter meeting. We will demonstrate some good ways to pack for Outpost and some bad ways.
June 3, 7PM. Mandatory pack check. This is where we will give you your tent and food and make sure you have all other gear (and know how to use it).
